Project:
The design of this extension was influenced by two factors, the budget and the fact it was such a great old bungalow with its original character pretty much untouched.
We decided to keep any alterations and construction work to the existing building to a minimum and concentrate on the addition. Preserving the old house also provided an opportunity to have a bit of fun architecturally. These decisions lead to a stand alone new build with contrasting materials, shapes and forms. The final concept leaves the existing house intact and gently leans a building up to it with a a glass link joining the two.
By not merging the two structures you can reduce costs, maintain character features while creating a unique and elegant style.
