Project:
Waikanae Alterations

Positioned adjacent to a lagoon near the mouth of the Waikanae River, this property has a fantastic outlook towards Kapiti Island.
Originally built for an elderly couple it has been extended to allow for three families to use the house on holidays and weekends.

The brief was to update and extend the existing layout to create a more user-friendly open-plan space allowing the adults and children to circulate while also enjoying the view.

The cedar clad extension opens up the public spaces at back of the house to the view and sun. The interior is linked to the exterior by corner opening sliding doors, flowing down the paved area to the new timber deck at the lagoon, making the most of the late evening sun.
